Ucluelet Diary | Storm Watching

With the year end winding down, we decided to cross one last thing off the travel bucket list... STORM WATCHING! Being in love with Vancouver Island, I've visited in all seasons but the winter. I've always been curious what the powerful sea would look like during the moody storm season and we figured what better place than to do it from Ucluelet. After a little research, I packed up my warmest jacket, my rain boots, booked a room with the Water's Edge and jumped onto BC Ferries to squeeze in one last 2015 adventure!
This was the view we woke up to every morning (above). Talk about peaceful! All of the suites at the Water's Edge have an ocean view. You either view the marina (see photo below) or the harbour. Our suite faced the harbour, so each morning we'd watch the fog and mist roll over the mountains to reveal the ocean right outside our patio.  Speaking of patios... one of the many reasons I chose Water's Edge was because their patios each have big outdoor jacuzzi's on them! So you get your own private spot to enjoy a bottle of wine, or dive into a good book. The view is so tranquil, I wish I could take it home with me. I spent plenty of time cozied up in blankets, watching the sea lions play in the water.
One of the best things about Ucluelet is the Wild Pacific Trail. This is an absolute MUST when you visit. The views are breathtaking and unlike anything else. This is where we headed for our storm watching. Make sure to pack rain gear... :) Forget about the umbrella, it won't last long in the wind.
